The international project WORKPRIS (reg. no. 2024-1-AT01-KA210-VET-000252330), implemented under the Erasmus+ programme, delivered a new training framework, a competency profile and a workshop model for staff of third sector organisations working in prisons. The project also involved the organisation VOLONTÉ CZECH, o.p.s. (VOLONTÉ).

The project “WORKPRIS – Preparing Third Sector Organizations for Work with People in Prison” ran from 1 October 2024 to 30 November 2025. Its aim was to strengthen cooperation between third sector organisations (TSOs) and prison services, support the professional development of staff in these organisations, and jointly seek sustainable models of vocational education and the involvement of TSOs in prison settings.

As part of the project, a series of four thematic international webinars took place in March 2025, followed by a two-day international workshop in Prague (11–12 June 2025). Building on the results of the mapping and the webinars, the workshop focused on jointly defining the key competencies of TSO staff working in prisons and creating a practical framework for their training. The project outputs are designed so that they can also serve as a basis for further staff training and for developing cooperation across different national systems.

From VOLONTÉ’s perspective, the project delivered tangible impacts: it strengthened the organisation’s role as a trusted partner for prisons and the Prison Service in the Czech Republic, deepened connections among actors across third sector organisations, and enabled the transfer of experience into further activities and projects.
