GLM+: Round Table Connects the Programme with the Issue of Protective Treatment
On 8 September 2026, another in the series of GLM+ project Round Table meetings took place, this time in hybrid format at the premises of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. The event, attended by more than 30 experts from the health and justice sectors, was this time expanded to include representatives of the "Změna OL" project, run under the auspices of the Ministry.
The meeting focused on connecting the GLM+ programme with the issue of protective treatment (ochranné léčení) — from the perspective of risk management and the use of risk assessment (RA) tools. The topic was placed within the broader context of a client's pathway through the system: from imprisonment, through possible protective treatment, to follow-up care and cooperation among institutions, with an emphasis on information sharing between them.
The programme comprised four main blocks:
Introduction of the concept of protective treatment and its connection to other components of the system (MUDr. Marek Páv, Ph.D., MBA)
Current information from the evaluation of the GLM+ project's pilot run
Discussion of suggestions and topics raised at previous Round Tables
Discussion and group work focused on clients' pathway through the prison and protective-treatment systems, the use of risk assessment, and options for sharing relevant information across institutions
As part of the group work, participants mapped how individual institutions in the system exchange information about clients with one another. The discussion also touched on other related topics, such as standards for expert (forensic) assessments and methodologies for working with juvenile offenders.
As with previous Round Tables, the aim of the meeting was to create space for open professional discussion, the sharing of experience, and the search for better continuity between the individual parts of the system for working with perpetrators of sexually motivated crime.
