In Most, we presented our work with people serving a prison sentence and the VOL Bez dluhů project

On 24 September 2026, we took part in the conference Aktuální témata v sociální oblasti (Current Topics in the Social Sphere), held at Most City Hall (Magistrát města Mostu). The programme covered a wide range of topics, from children's rights and crisis services to violence prevention and support for people serving a prison sentence and their return to society. VOLONTÉ presented its work with people serving a prison sentence and its support for their return to freedom.
In our presentation, we showed how broad a range of issues we address when working with people serving a prison sentence. It is not only about the time spent in prison, but above all about what awaits a person after returning to everyday life. That is why we work on debts, employment, housing, family relationships, parenthood and partnership, mentoring, and educational and workshop activities.
Returning to freedom is often complicated by several problems at once. People who have served a prison sentence may face debts and enforcement proceedings, insecure housing, difficulty finding work, or strained family relationships. Other obstacles can include the stigma attached to a criminal record, difficulty finding one's way around institutions and obligations, or a lack of a support network.
That is why we base our work on an individual approach and on practical solutions to each client's specific situation. We also consider it important to support healthy relationships and, above all, to ensure that help continues after release, because leaving prison does not usually mean the end of a person's problems.
VOL Bez dluhů (VOL Debt-Free) for the Most region
Our presentation also included the VOL Bez dluhů project, which focuses on supporting people at risk of over-indebtedness. Within the project, VOLONTÉ provides debt counselling in Most and at Bělušice Prison and cooperates with other actors in the region.
A debt situation can significantly affect a person's chance to start again: to find stable work and housing, rebuild family relationships, or gain more confidence in everyday life. This applies to residents of Most and the surrounding area just as it does to people who have served a prison sentence.
The conference gave us an opportunity not only to present our work and the VOL Bez dluhů project, but also to meet other experts and organisations working in the social sphere in the Most region. We see cooperation between services, institutions and organisations as an important part of supporting people in difficult life situations.
We thank the city of Most for the invitation and for the opportunity to present our work.
If you are interested in free debt counselling, please contact our debt and legal adviser for Most and the surrounding area: Bc. Jana Solar Máčková, tel.: +420 602 387 335, e-mail: jana.solar.mackova@volonte.cz. Information about the project is available at www.volonte.cz.
The project VOL Bez dluhů (reg. no. CZ.03.02.01/00/25_106/0005944) is implemented through the Operational Programme Employment Plus, co-financed by the European Social Fund and the state budget of the Czech Republic. The project is co-financed by the European Union.
