Všehrdy Prison: convicts, in cooperation with the municipality, provide wood for local seniors

With cooperation with the Všehrdy Prison, we provide debt and legal advice, thematic courses, retraining or job offers, and accommodation for convicts after their release from prison. More similar activities have been realized in Všehrdy Prison for a long time. However, we are now following the prison's cooperation with the Všehrdy municipality with great interest.

The prison uses the training of convicts on a chainsaw operator retraining course to help to deliver wood for local seniors. This example of excellent cooperation could also be cited when evaluating the outputs of our VOL Mentorink project financed by the Norwegian Funds 2014-2021 within the SP program - Justice Program framework.

Petra Brezinova, the mayor of the Všehrdy village, says that cooperation with the local prison is beneficial for the municipality. It significantly helps not only local seniors but it is also very important to the overall cultural life in the village.

The project lasts until April 2024, so we believe the cooperation will continue successfully and will be meaningful as before.

The main goal of this project is, in cooperation with the five involved prisons, partners, and other stakeholders, to create appropriate conditions for resocialization and reintegration of 150 clients - to support involved clients in the positive aspects of their development. The main thing is to activate them to solve their problems to prevent recidivism. This project is implemented in cooperation with a Norwegian company Åpenhet AS and Czech company ProEduCo s.r.o.

The project is supported within the Program Justice, co-financed by the EEA/Norway 2014-2021 (www.fondyehp.cz/www.norskefondy.cz,www.eeagrants.org). The provider of funds is the Ministry of Finance.
