The VOL “Staying Free” project (reg. no. CZ.03.02.01/00/22_043/0001489) focuses on supporting individuals in prison who are preparing to reintegrate into everyday life. Its main objective is to improve their chances of successful reintegration into society, family life, and the labor market.

Multi-level support

The project provides a range of activities that respond to the real needs of clients and help them overcome obstacles linked to their past and current circumstances. The main pillars of support include:

  • Debt counselling – assistance with resolving executions, setting up payment plans, and understanding financial obligations.

  • Financial literacy – teaching clients how to understand and manage money effectively.

  • Employment counselling – preparing for the labor market, writing CVs, practicing interviews, and identifying suitable job opportunities.

  • Legal counselling – providing a basic understanding of legal issues related to family, employment, and civil law.

  • Mentoring – individual guidance and support to increase motivation and accountability for one’s life choices.

Financial literacy session at Ruzyně Prison

One of the upcoming project activities is a session on financial literacy, which will take place on 23 September 2025 at Ruzyně Prison – Řepy facility, a women’s prison. The session will focus on practical financial skills, debt prevention, and personal financial planning. The aim is to strengthen the ability of incarcerated women to manage their finances and increase their chances of stable reintegration after release.

A real opportunity for a fresh start

The VOL Staying Free project helps people leaving prison rediscover their place in society and avoid returning to a life of crime. By combining expert counselling with personal support, the project offers participants a genuine opportunity for a successful restart.

The project “VOL Staying Free”, reg. no. CZ.03.02.01/00/22_043/0001489, is supported by the Employment Plus Operational Programme and co-funded by the European Social Fund Plus.
