Children's Days 2025: Relationships stronger than bars

Children of convicts often remain invisible - in the data, in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, in the shadow of acts for which they are not to blame. And it is to these children and their families that we at VOLONTÉ CZECH want to offer the support they deserve.

That is why this year, as in previous years, we are organising a series of children's days in cooperation with prisons. The aim of these days is for parents and children to be together, to strengthen their relationship and to motivate the prisoner to change - to care for the children, maintain relationships and return to life. In addition, this year the children's days are getting a visual face - we have developed a new logo that symbolizes family, closeness, second chances and the power of emotions. The simple graphics, the connection between parent and child captured in one gesture, reflect the meaning of these gatherings: being together. The logo will become a unifying element of all activities related to the Children's Days and will accompany us in communication, printed materials and at the venue of the events.
Where are we going this year?
May 21, 2025 – Yellow Ribbon Run + Children’s Day Jiřice
May 31, 2025 – Children’s Day Světlá nad Sázavou
June 15, 2025 – Children’s Day Kynšperk nad Ohří
June 21, 2025 – Children’s Day Rýnovice
Why do we do it?
Each of these days brings moments that transcend prison bars – hugs, laughter, shared games, quiet words between parent and child, moments when we are together as a family. We believe that strong family bonds reduce the risk of recidivism and strengthen the motivation to change. And most importantly – they give hope.
“It was just one day, but for me, it meant a big motivation to work on myself. When my son said ‘I love you’, I believed I could still be a better person.” — participant of the Children’s Day in Kynšperk nad Ohří Prison
“I made mistakes that hurt my family. This day gave me a chance to start again – at least as a father.” — participant of the Children’s Day in Rýnovice Prison
“My son looked at me like I was his dad, and I got to spend the day with him. That look and that time – it changes everything.” — participant of the Children’s Day in Jiřice Prison
“Seeing them together and feeling their acceptance – that was a moment that reminded me I have someone to be a better person for.” — participant of the Children’s Day in Ruzyně Prison
