The first Sunday of Advent brought joy, laughter and the magic of the Christmas atmosphere to the Rýnovice prison. Under the leadership of educator Monika Winklerová and her team, the event "We are a family" was held here, which was aimed at supporting relationships between convicts, their children and families. We, the Volonté organization, participated in the realization of this exceptional event as part of the VOL Rodinu project, because we believe that the family is the basis not only of each individual, but also of his path to a better future.

Christmas spirit behind bars
Christmas carols rang out in the prison premises, played by prison chaplain Jan Suchánek accompanied by a guitar. Children and their fathers made Advent wreaths, decorated gingerbread houses and created Christmas decorations. The program was complemented by sports activities and talks about Advent, which strengthened common sharing and relaxation before the Christmas holidays.
One of the greatest moments was the meeting with Nicholas, the angel and the devil, who brought enthusiasm and emotion. The whole atmosphere helped the participants to forget the difficulties at least for a while and reminded them that the Advent season is about closeness and love.
The meaning of the action
For the convicts, this meeting was a rare opportunity to spend time with their children in a peaceful and joyful environment. These moments play a key role not only in maintaining family ties, but also in motivating them to change and return to normal life.
We are glad that we could support this initiative and help create an unforgettable experience that connected all participants and contributed to making them more aware of the value of family and time spent together.
