Collaboration for Meaningful Change
As part of our project “VOL Qualification and Work,” instructors from the accredited institution in Jihlava and participating staff of Světlá nad Sázavou Prison will on October 13, 2025 launch the first session of a professional qualification program conducted directly in the prison.
The Obchodní akademie, Vyšší odborná škola zdravotnická a Střední zdravotnická škola, Střední odborná škola služeb a Jazyková škola s právem státní jazykové zkoušky Jihlava (https://www.ozs-ji.cz/) – an accredited institution that led the same course seven years ago – we are pleased to build upon that successful practice.
About the Course
Name and qualification number: ZŠ PK 65‑003‑E Assistant Cook / Assistant Fast‑Food Cook (see National Qualifications: https://www.narodnikvalifikace.cz/kvalifikace-8-Pomocny_kuchar_pomocna_kucharka_pokrmu_rychleho_obcerstveni)
Duration: 80 hours of instruction
Completion: examination in the professional qualification
Term: October 13, 2025 – December 5, 2025
Location: directly in Světlá nad Sázavou Prison
Realization: the theoretical part will be taught by instructors from the Jihlava school; the practical part will be conducted with involvement of the prison kitchen staff on site.
The Purpose of Further Education
The aim of the course is to provide participants with practical culinary skills, thereby improving their chances of finding employment upon release. The course also helps cultivate work habits and contributes to the overall resocialization of women serving sentences.
Project “VOL Qualification and Work”
The project “VOL Qualification and Work” is a two‑year program focused on supporting employability of individuals who may not have completed basic education. It provides a comprehensive support system—from motivational activities and legal or debt counseling, through vocational training and retraining, to mentoring and assistance in finding employment and housing. Through this pathway, clients have the opportunity not only to gain new skills, but also greater self‑confidence and a chance for a more stable future.
Part of the training cycle will be a ceremonial conclusion on December 5, at which representatives of the hotel and restaurant industry will be present to meet graduates and possibly offer them employment, including accommodation if feasible.
We anticipate continuing professional qualifications in 2026.
