Father's Day in Kynšperk nad Ohří Prison

Father's Day at Kynšperk nad Ohří Prison was conceived as an opportunity to create a space for strengthening the relationships between children and their fathers who are currently serving their sentences. Five male prisoners were given the opportunity to meet their children and families outside the prison premises, in the playground on the prison grounds - in an environment that allows them to be together in a different way than just in the visiting room.

For children, these moments mean much more than just an unusual experience - they are moments that can help them build trust, reconnect and better understand that the relationship with their father still has meaning. One of the young participants summed it up succinctly when he said: "This is the best Father's Day ever. I'm glad my dad and I love each other." For the convicted men, in turn, this is a clear signal of how much their presence and responsibility can mean to their children.

These children's days are not just about the experience. They are targeted interventions that are meaningful - they are a confirmation for the children that their dads are thinking about them and want to be in touch with them, helping them to regain a sense of acceptance and family connection. They help to strengthen family bonds, promote positive motivation and remind them that being a dad is not just a long-distance role, but a commitment to be lived every day.

Father's Day in Kynšperk was not a celebration, but a real occasion. For the children and their fathers. We thank Kynšperk nad Ohří Prison and its employees for their active involvement and long-term support. In Kynšperk, similar children's days are held repeatedly and thus have the opportunity to create continuity and long-term impact. This regularity shows that the relationship between child and parent has a chance to grow despite the separation.

We look forward to more days like this - for the sake of children who need to know they have a dad. Not just on Father's Day, but every day.

The event was held in cooperation with the prison management and VOLONTÉ CZECH within the VOL Family project (reg. no. CZ.03.02.02/00/22_017/0000254), which is financed by the European Social Fund through the Operational Programme Employment Plus.
